Shift: Rotating, 12 hour Night Shift (Purple), 6:00 PM - 6:30 AM, including some weekends
Wage: Starts at a base of $25.50/hr

Position Overview: The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for assisting with repairing and maintaining machinery and mechanical equipment in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, and manufacturer’s specifications. Ensures all current equipment is running smoothly. This position has a good understanding of milling and packaging equipment operation and experienced in welding and metal fabrication.
Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions:
- Performs routine maintenance and repairs to all milling and packaging equipment.
- Uses all types of maintenance tools and equipment, including welders, grinders, air tools, hand tools, etc.
- Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments.
- Fabricates replacement and newly designed parts for various pieces of equipment.
- Initiates requests for parts and equipment in coordination with the Maintenance Coordinator.
- Assists with installing special functional and structural parts for equipment operation.
- Responsible for keeping work area clean and safe.
- Complies with all company policies and procedures and operates all equipment in a safe and food-safe manner.
- Complies with Bob’s Red Mill food safety policies and procedures including adherence to FDA regulations and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
- Performs other tasks and duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- This position reports to the Maintenance Foreman and Director of Plant Facilities.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Possesses skills in welding and all portable and hand tool usage.
- Possesses good communication skills both written and orally.
- Possesses a good mechanical aptitude.
- Has a good understanding of packaging, milling, and material handling equipment.
- Skilled in metal fabrication and design a plus.
- Proficiency with basic hand tools for machine set up and operation.
- Ability to speak, write and understand the English language.
- Ability to work both individually and as a member of a team.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical functions including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Ability to obtain LME license preferred.
- 1-3 years of welding experience preferred.
Physical Demands:
- Frequently requires the ability to climb ladders and stairways.
- Position may require standing for long periods of time, as well as stooping, squatting, bending, kneeing, etc.
- Position requires the ability to work at a fast pace in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Work Environment:
- Working weekends is required.
- This position will perform work within all areas of the facility and may be exposed to dust, dirt, grease and extremes and difference in temperature.
