Metal Building Superintendent - Job Description
Summary:
The Metal Building Superintendent assumes a pivotal role in overseeing and guiding construction crews, ensuring the efficient erection of Pre-Engineered Metal Buildings (PEMB). Their responsibilities extend across all phases of the PEMB construction project, requiring comprehensive leadership and coordination to ensure project success.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Prepares work schedules and assignments.
- Communicates and enforces safety procedures and site rules.
- Regularly inspects work for quality and timeliness.
- Establish and maintain effective and positive relationships throughout a project with customers, design team, subcontractors, and suppliers that focus on Radius’ core values and meet/exceed customer’s expectations.
- Conduct weekly safety meetings, mentor/manage all jobsite personnel, and to train or direct training for new hires.
- Ensures specifications and regulations outlined in architectural and PEMB plans are followed.
- Attend and participate in safety meetings, preconstruction meetings, and post job meetings.
- Conduct and update job progress meetings with the Radius team and the client.
- Any other assigned duties.
Required Knowledge, Experience & Competencies:
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Good understanding of PEMB systems.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Extremely detail-oriented and organized.
- Ability to read, understand, and execute blueprints, drawings, and plans.
- Thorough understanding of legal requirements relating to construction and building sites.
- Thorough understanding of quality building practices.
- Ability to quickly identify problems and efficiently solve them.
- Must be able to navigate a smart phone and PC. Including but not limited to Word,
Excel, Outlook, and Procore.
- Ability to work productively with minimal supervision.
- Knowledge of metal building panels and roofing required.
Preferred Knowledge, Experience & Competencies:
- Three years of commercial Metal/Steel experience
- OSHA 10
- OSHA 30
- PEMB erection experience (preferred)
- Punctuality and consistent attendance
- Ability to work overtime when necessary.
- Willing to complete all pre-employment background check, physical and drug screens.
- Authorized to work in the United States
- RTFL operator certification (preferred).
- MEWP 1A&B operator certification (preferred).
Work Format:
This position requires team collaboration and presence at in person meetings and is best suited to a traditional work schedule.
Travel Requirements:
- Occasional Travel (10-15%) to meetings within a 150-mile radius of the office.
- Travel to various job site locations
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift 50-90lbs. as needed.
- Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time.
- Ability to see well (naturally or with correction).
- Ability to handle heights.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record required.
