Role Overview:
The Equipment Spotter plays a crucial role in our operations, providing essential eyes on the ground for the operation of heavy equipment and machinery. This position requires a high level of awareness, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to safety protocols. The ideal candidate will assist in preventing accidents, ensuring safe maneuvering, and facilitating efficient site operations through clear and concise communication with equipment operators and other team members. The regular work week for this position will be 7a-3p M-F with the possibility of occasional overtime.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor and direct the movement of heavy equipment and machinery on job sites to ensure safe operation and prevent collisions or accidents.
- Communicate effectively with equipment operators, using hand signals and radio communication to guide and direct movements.
- Conduct pre-operation checks around work areas to identify potential hazards and ensure that the equipment operation will not pose a risk to workers or the equipment itself.
- Maintain constant vigilance to ensure a safe working environment for all site personnel, promptly reporting any unsafe conditions or practices to site management.
- Collaborate with the safety team to develop and implement site-specific safety protocols related to equipment operation.
- Participate in safety meetings and training sessions, staying updated on best practices and new safety regulations.
- Assist in emergency response situations as required, acting quickly and efficiently to mitigate risks and ensure the safety of all personnel.
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Previous experience in a similar role on construction or industrial sites is preferred.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to use hand signals effectively.
Exceptional awareness and attention to detail.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.
Knowledge of workplace safety practices and regulations, particularly those relating to heavy equipment operation.
Must be able to stand for extended periods and work in various weather conditions.
Willingness to work flexible hours, including early mornings, late evenings, and weekends as needed.
Must be able to pass a pre-employment/random drug and alcohol screening.
