JOB COACH

BDI is enhancing our community impact and fostering greater outcomes through the launch of Elevate Academy, a transformative career placement initiative. This innovative program combines workplace readiness, work adjustment training, and career pathway exploration with job placement and coaching. To ensure increased community Impact, Elevate Academy will be guided by a dedicated parent and employer task force, fostering collaboration and addressing real-world needs.

As a Skills Instructor for Elevate Academy, you play a vital part in the implementation and delivery of the program’s core components, including skill-building, job coaching, career pathway assessments, and hands-on training during internship rotations. Collaboration with business partners, employers, and the Elevate Academy team is essential to support participants in developing the necessary skills for employment success. Responsibilities include guiding participants through job placement, and onboarding, and providing personalized coaching to ensure long-term career success. By fostering connections between participants, parents, and employers, the Skills Trainer helps create sustainable career pathways and contributes to lasting community impact.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Deliver targeted instruction and hands-on training to ensure Elevate Academy interns excel during internship rotations.
  • Evaluate job tasks and design effective teaching tools to meet and exceed productivity and quality benchmarks.
  • Implement innovative accommodations and assistive technology to maximize intern performance.
  • Cultivate natural workplace supports that empower interns to achieve sustained success.
  • Track, analyze, and share performance data to drive continuous improvement and informed decision-making.
  • Partner with department teams to identify and deploy tools and techniques that enhance intern outcomes.
  • Collaborate with the Elevate Academy Program Manager to secure and develop high-impact internship opportunities.
  • Lead recruitment and selection efforts in partnership with the Steering Committee and Parent Task Force to attract top-tier interns.
  • Coordinate and execute a streamlined yearly event calendar to ensure seamless program operations.
  • Organize and lead Employment Planning Meetings to align interns’ career development with long-term goals.
  • Strategically match interns to internships that align with their skills and career aspirations.
  • Develop robust internship opportunities, including task lists and comprehensive VocFit Assessments.
  • Engage with managers and mentors to address challenges proactively and accelerate intern progress.
  • Drive program success through flexibility and commitment to additional responsibilities as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree.
  • A minimum of two years of relevant experience working with individuals with disabilities.
  • Strong teaching skills, understanding of error-free learning techniques, and systematic instruction strategies.
  • Comprehensive expertise in applying current best practices for transition planning and supported employment
  • Experience in providing classroom and community-based training (real-world settings), with the ability to adjust curriculum and materials to meet the needs of participants and their various learning styles.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends.

  • Work environment varies based on the location of the intern's job site.
  • Routine on-site visits and community outreach engagements to foster stronger connections and ensure active collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Providing comprehensive support to interns as they navigate diverse roles and work environments throughout their assignments.
  • TRAVEL

    Travel to schools, community events, etc..
