Carlisle Country Club, located in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, and managed by Bobby Jones Links, is hiring for Lifeguards. Carlisle Country Club is a classic family-oriented private club featuring 18 holes, a pool and bathhouse, and fine dining that will soon celebrate its 100th anniversary. The original clubhouse was built in 1924, the year the charter was granted, and used a barn built in the 1860s as the cornerstone, so to speak of the club. It is still fully intact, with several renovations built around it over the years.
Responsibilities of the Lifeguard at Carlisle Country Club include:
- Vacuums pool bottom; empties automatic skimmer; skims bugs and other debris from surface to prepare pool for daily use
- Supervises swimmers at all times to ensure their safety
- Tends to minor injuries such as small cuts and bruises of swimmers
- Maintains cleanliness of changing rooms, bathrooms, and showers
- Assists in organizing clinics and private swimming lessons for members as directed by the Swimming Pool Manager or Instructors
- Enforces rules of conduct
- Checks first aid inventory and reports shortages
- Organizes and monitors pool games at all times; suggests pool side games
- Sets pool equipment up at the beginning of the day and returns it to storage at the end of the day
- Straightens the pool and cabana areas at the end of the day
- Maintains all necessary records determined by the Swimming Pool Manager
- Attends all meetings as directed by the Swimming Pool Manager
Required Skills
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Knowledge of optimal swimming pool water chemistry, temperature, and cleanliness standards.
- Skilled swimmer.
- Attentiveness and awareness to the surrounding environment.
- Ability to enforce policies and procedures that contribute to safety.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to:
- Walk and or stand for long periods of time, sit, bend, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear, stoop, kneel, crouch, close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
- Lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally and to lift overhead and push/pull, move lighter objects.
