Job Type: Salary Full-time, (Exempt) 100k – 110K to start DOE.

Director of Rental Job Summary
The Equipment Rental Manager is responsible for the profit, customer satisfaction and management of the company’s rental department for the Stockton, Fresno, Merced, Sacramento and Reno stores. This person works with the rental coordinator and store manager at each location to provide the best customer service while being profitable resulting in growth of the rental department.

Equipment Rental Manager Duties and Responsibilities
Financial:
· Responsible for Rental Department profitability.
· Review Monthly ROI reports under the financial.
· Responsible for budgeting and forecasting.
· Regularly reviews inventory levels for appropriate mix.
· Utilizes missed opportunity reports from rental coordinators.
· Prepares fleet utilization reports.
· Makes necessary changes to improve operations.
· Responsible for managing department expenses.
· Responsible for developing the suggested roll-in and roll-out of rental inventory.
· Evaluate and analyze rental fleet inventory needs based on utilization.
· Collaborate with the President on equipment ordering needs.
· Collaborate with the President to determine which units are available for sale and pricing.
Administrative:
· Talks/Meets daily with rental coordinators to prioritize customer service issues.
· Responsible for assessing the need for and hiring new rental department staff and performing periodic employee reviews.
· Training of rental coordinators on proper documentation, insurance, payment, anti-theft protocol, etc.
· Verifies and signs off on rental department timecards, sales/rental commissions and other payroll related issues.
· Tracks and communicates with accounting dept. on any rental equipment sold.
· Responsible for maintaining good conditions for the department and rental fleet.
· Responsible for the accuracy of invoicing, making sure to include additional billing items such as transportation charges, cleaning charges, fuel charges, damage waiver, etc.
· Directs efforts and helps rental coordinators to prospect for new customers with a plan.
· Conducts regular visits to our five locations, customer locations, and job sites to ensure all rental needs are met and exceeded.
· Acts as back up to rental coordinators as needed.
Customer / Employee Relations:
· Periodically reviews the competition, suggesting or making adjustments to prices and offerings.
· Evaluate rental fleet condition, demand, etc. based on market conditions.
· Must demonstrate “salesmanship” skills, not only to promote the business but to manage the rental coordinators.
· Involved with the credit department collecting past due accounts and resolving any customer conflicts.
· Is available to customers and staff for emergencies.
· Follow anti-theft protocols to guard against equipment theft.
Technical:
· Willingness to be hands-on with equipment.
· Willingness to walk onto job sites to meet the customer where they are.
· Mechanical aptitude to problem solve for customers.
· Every effort should be made to have proficient skills in operating the equipment in the rental fleet along with practical application knowledge.
· Working knowledge of Excel and Word.
· Experience with CDK software a plus.
Education and Experience:
· High School Diploma or equivalent.
· Bachelor’s degree in a related field (Preferred).
· Experience in managing sales or rental department people, financials, profit and loss statements, budgets, KPIs (key performance indicators), and full sales operations.
· Background in construction and agriculture compact equipment a plus.
Equipment Rental Manager Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
· Strong understanding of customer base and equipment applications.
· Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
· Honesty and integrity required.
· Good Excel, Word and presentation software skills.
· Prior use of CRM system a plus.
· Good written and verbal communication skills, organizational and people management skills.
· Valid CA driver’s license and clean DMV record, with the ability to travel as needed.
· Excellent selling, negotiating, and closing skills with the ability to build long-term rental business relationships and coach the rental team.
· Flexibility and availability required.
Equipment Rental Manager Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, maintain balance, climb, and lift up to 50 lbs.
