Position Overview:
The Construction Business Team works with M/W/DBE construction contractors throughout the NYC Metropolitan area providing specialized trainings, business counseling, and contract-based financing with the goal of advancing financial justice work on behalf of our clients. Joining the Construction Business Team, the M/W/DBE Construction Business Lending Associate will come with experience and a mission-driven mentality to work with agencies and M/W/DBEs in supporting our Contract Financing programs, which provide financing to construction businesses to perform on public and private contracts. You will work closely with borrowers throughout the loan process, from application to disbursement and repayment, to ensure successful project completion and positive outcomes for our clients and communities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate curriculum development and delivery including the identification and participation of subject matter experts for public construction.
- Recruit, review, and assess applicant documentation including but not limited to financial statements, past experience, etc.
- Prepare lesson-plans in collaboration with internal and external training staff and consultants.
- Ensure compliance with program requirements.
- Liaise with Construction Team to conduct site visits, contract and estimate analysis, and contract-specific technical assistance.
- Monitor participant progress in relation to participation, homework, and progress with projects and financing.
- Provide exceptional customer service and support to participants on an ongoing basis.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to streamline processes and connect participants to additional resources.
- Provide support to Construction Business lending team in management of loan applications.
- Manage client data using BOC databases and funder databases and file systems, including data analysis and outcome tracking.
- Actively participate in regular BOC meetings, trainings, and events.
- Travel within the NYC metropolitan area is required, and attendance at workshops/trainings.
Requirements:
- A mission-driven mentality to work with disadvantaged construction contractors to provide contract-based financing and business management training.
- Possess financial analysis skills applicable to small construction contractors.
- Bachelor's degree in finance, business, or construction-related field. Experience may be substituted for education.
- 4 years of experience in business development training/coaching and construction project management.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and foster relationships with clients and stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and loan management softwares.
- Ability to travel through the NYC Metropolitan Area to attend workshops/trainings and site visits
- Commitment to the mission and values of the organization
- Nonprofit or CDFI experience a plus.
- English-speaking required. Bi-lingual a plus.

Pay: $60,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year commensurate with experience
