JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION TITLE: Grants Manager
SUPERVISED BY: Director of Development
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
The Grants Manager (GM) works closely with senior Development staff, the Director and CEO, and other Museum staff to generate compelling content to increase and maintain financial support for all areas of the institution. The GM provides instrumental support in researching funding opportunities; managing project development across Museum departments; maintaining application lists and tracking deadlines; preparing and submitting grant, proposal, and sponsorship materials for government, foundation, corporate, and individual funders; and managing information across Museum departments to produce reports on funding impact. The IGM works with development colleagues to assist in the planning and creation of other development content, as well as assist with development events and initiatives.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Goal Setting & Maintenance:
· Collaborate with senior Development staff and Director and CEO to establish grant and proposal fundraising strategies and goals to support Museum programming and organizational growth.
· Develop and maintain a application lists and tracking deadlines calendar of actions for submissions, notifications, updates, stewardship, reports, etc.
Funding Research:
· Assist in the identification of new funding sources.
· Conduct research on government, foundation, corporations, and individual prospects assigned.
Planning & Development:
· Participate with colleagues across Museum departments to identify current and future projects and organizational funding needs.
· Play a key role in helping to develop and coordinate project and institutional written content and visual supporting materials.
Grants & Proposals:
· Prepare and submit donor-specific narratives, budgets, and supporting materials for government, foundation, corporate, and individual funders, customizing pre-written materials, developing new materials, and responding to the detailed needs and requirements of diverse types of applications and proposals.
· Examine and interpret grant contracts and relay important dates and deliverables to stakeholders like program managers, the finance department, and leadership.
· Monitor progress on funding initiatives and play lead role in soliciting and closing funding requests through contact as needed.
· Manage the timely completion of any required reporting as well as acknowledgement and funder recognition to ensure accuracy and consistency.
· Assist in the planning and creation of other development content for such purposes as Annual Fund appeals, Planned Giving materials, Annual Reports, etc.
· Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE: The qualifications, experience and skill sets described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform this job including Grant writing experience, preferably in a museum setting.
· Bachelor’s Degree or higher, preferably in an art related field. Master’s Degree is a plus.
· 5 years’ experience in a non-profit fundraising setting, preferably with an arts organization.
· Demonstrated ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple projects.
· Ability to manage highly confidential information with impeccable discretion.
· Excellent organizational, interpersonal, communication and customer service skills.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong attention to detail.
· Ability to develop and monitor budgets and prepare financial reports.
· Computer literacy, with experience with fundraising databases preferred.
· Ability to take direction, work independently as well as to be a member of a team, set and maintain priorities, balance demands of multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
· Nights and weekends as required.

Salary : $58,636 - $65,000
