Position Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Test Automation Engineer in Washington, DC near Capitol Hill . The position requires a strong background in test automation, particularly using Cucumber and Selenium, and will be involved in migrating test suites to Playwright. This role involves supporting functional testing for new features, bug fixes, regression testing, and release validation in an Agile environment. You will collaborate with business analysts and engineers to ensure the quality and stability of applications by developing and maintaining automated test suites, as well as supporting manual testing efforts when necessary.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Automated Test Development : Develop and maintain automated test scripts using Cucumber and Selenium and assist in the migration of test suites to Playwright .
Functional Testing Support : Support functional testing efforts for new features and bug fixes by creating and executing automated tests.
Regression and Release Validation : Perform regression testing and ensure comprehensive test coverage for each sprint release. Validate that new changes and fixes do not negatively impact the application's existing functionality.
Collaboration with Business Analysts and Engineers : Work closely with business analysts and engineers to develop and refine acceptance criteria for user stories and ensure test cases are aligned with these criteria.
Test Documentation and Reporting : Maintain thorough documentation of test cases, scripts, and results. Report issues found during testing and collaborate with developers to resolve them.
Agile Environment Support : Participate in sprint planning and daily standups, actively contributing to the testing effort for each sprint cycle.

Required Qualifications :

US Citizenship is required.

Bachelor"s Degree with 5-7 years of professional experience in software testing and test automation.

Proven experience in test automation with tools such as Cucumber , Selenium , and Playwright .

Experience testing applications based on user stories and acceptance criteria in an Agile environment.

Strong experience with manual testing in addition to automation.

Ability to support regression testing and validate releases at the end of each sprint.

Experience collaborating with business analysts and engineers to develop and refine acceptance criteria for testing.

Familiarity with Agile methodologies and the ability to work within a fast-paced, collaborative team environment.

Preferred Qualifications :

Experience with Playwright for test automation and the ability to assist in migrating existing test suites from Selenium.

Familiarity with CI / CD pipelines and integrating automated tests into these workflows.

Knowledge of version control systems (e.g., Git) and experience working with Jenkins or similar build tools.

Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Experience with test reporting tools such as TestNG or JUnit.

Physical Demands

Sitting / Standing : This role requires the ability to be on your feet moving around for most of the day interacting with staff, contractors or contractor representatives, and work being performed.

Walking : This position may require an extensive amount of walking throughout the offices / buildings as needed.

Stooping / Kneeling / Crouching / Crawling : This role may require occasional stooping or kneeling to transport technical equipment if needed or operate computers, etc.

Using Hands / Fingers : This role constantly operates technological office equipment such as laptop, mouse, keyboard, computer monitors, telephones, and scanners, copiers, and fax machines.

Talking / Hearing : This role requires constant communication with others in the organization to exchange information, review information, and make decisions about information.

Seeing : This role requires the ability to see, view, and distinguish all aspects of work to ensure accuracy on work performed.

Carrying / Lifting : This role requires the ability to lift up to 15lbs to transport technological office equipment, and other needed project items to and from various workspaces.
