What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assoc Scientist, Veterinary Quality Svcs position at Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health USA?
Performs animal care/welfare activities and bio-analytical methods (in vivo, microbiological, immunological, virological, or molecular biological) for various Bio QC tests on raw materials, in-process, release or stability samples in compliance with AAALACi standards, 9CFR, EU and VICH regulatory guidelines, Outlines of Production and Special Outlines. Supports R&D testing as needed. Initiates, executes and completes assays as per validated procedures and within Quality and Compliance guidelines. Communicates animal welfare, testing, compliance and/or scheduling issues to supervisors. Adheres to company policies, maintains a safe work environment and follows appropriate GMP documentation practices.
Duties & Responsibilities
Testing:
- Perform routine animal care and welfare activities as needed
- Perform routine testing using a portion of the existing animal and laboratory assays
- Maintains reagents, supplies and calibrated equipment
- Prepare reagents and materials
- Calculates results
- Communicates schedule, test status and concerns
- Review results and test sheets
Projects:
- Site level quality, efficiency and animal welfare enhancement projects as needed
- Coordinate projects with supervision
- Coordination of projects within group
- Is called upon by other groups in Veterinary Quality Services or QC for collaboration or SME

Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Biology or relevant scientific discipline.
- In addition to Bachelor's degree in a non-relevant discipline, a minimum of 1 year of relevant scientific and/or animal care experience in a cGMP or similar environment.
- In addition to Associates degree, a minimum of 2 years of relevant scientific and/or animal care experience in a cGMP or similar environment. LAT AALAS Certification preferred.
- In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 5 years of scientific and/or animal care experience in a cGMP or similar environment.
