Within BI's Human Pharma BD&L organization, Strategic Partnering (SP) works closely with Transactions & Contract Management (T&CM) and Alliance Management (AM) to ensure flawless execution on accessing external innovation to strengthen BI's portfolio. Close collaboration, seamless transitions and transfers of responsibility within the BD&L organization from SP to T&CM to AM are key to success.
The Director, Strategic Partnering for Oncology (SP, ONC) will contribute to the partnering strategy for a given TA / focus area and in line with this strategy, identify, lead the scientific evaluation, and advance to negotiation, selected external innovation opportunities. The successful candidate will select and prioritize these opportunities in accordance with BI's portfolio needs, financial expectations, and other key terms in an industry-competitive manner, globally and across the entire R&D value chain.
The SP colleague initiates close interactions with BI stakeholders outside the department (e.g. Research, Development, Translational Medicine and Biomarkers / Medical, Legal, Patents, Commercial, Finance) and external partners from academia, biotech and pharmaceutical companies to drive access to external innovation.
SP represents BI's first contact to potential external partners and drives BI's global visibility efforts and networking in the scientific / biotech community.

Duties & Responsibilities
- SP is accountable for executing the specific TA Licensing Investment and Partnering Strategy, aligned with the overall OneHP TA-strategy and goals, across the value chain.
- SP is accountable for global scouting of external opportunities in the respective TA.
- SP is accountable for reviewing and prioritizing external opportunities coordinated by a TA-specific Advisory Team with representation from key stakeholders.
- SP is responsible for driving opportunities (acting as a champion) successfully throughout the entire evaluation and negotiation, leading up to deal signature.
- SP is accountable for defining the preferred partnering model in cooperation with T&CM, leading preparations of project review presentations for management, and securing non-binding term sheet (nbTS) endorsement for partnering opportunities, before start of nbTS negotiation with the partner.
- SP is responsible for positioning BI as a partner-of-choice by ensuring a streamlined review process, and by acting as an ambassador of the company for partners across the globe through the implementation of BD&L-led visibility activities. This includes developing networks with biotech companies, key opinion leaders, venture capital firms, and financial institutions.
- SP is responsible to develop and maintain a global presence for BI at key partnering and scientific meetings in the respective TA, thereby enabling BI's Licensing Investment and Partnering Strategy.

Compensation :
This position, Director, offers a base salary typically between $200,000.00 and $316,000.00. The position may be eligible for a role specific variable or performance based bonus and or other compensation elements. For an overview of our benefits please click here.
