The Animal Care Technician LG4 will derive products from livestock, companion, and laboratory animals with a strong emphasis on USDA / AAALACi Animal Welfare compliance / enhancement and GxP documentation of animal observations supporting QC and R&D testing.
Duties / Responsibilities :
Husbandry :
Handles, restrains, feeds, provides relevant training / enrichment and otherwise caring for Production, Quality Control, and Research animals in accordance with AAALACi Standards, USDA Regulations, Standard Operating Procedures, Standard Methods, and Outlines of Production.
Prepares for incoming animals (power washing, disinfecting, facility setup) and performs general housekeeping.
Testing :
Performs all aspects of equipment preparation and sterilization.
Performs animal conditioning (vaccinations, deworming, etc.) along with collection of animal data (blood sample, temperature, biological sample, etc.).
Administers treatments prescribed by the veterinarian for livestock, companion, and laboratory animals.
Documentation :
- Follows BIVI Standard Operating Procedures, Standard Methods, and Outlines of Production.
- Properly documents work and observations performed with strict adherence to GXP documentation and proceed independently without direct supervision.
