JOB SUMMARY |
The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Intern assists the EHS Department by conducting inspections, supporting compliance initiatives, performing risk assessments, developing EHS training materials, and completing administrative tasks to ensure a safe working environment, all while gaining practical experience in workplace safety and environmental regulations and procedures.

- Support EHS Department in maintaining site compliance with all federal, state and local regulations (including, but not limited to OSHA/CAL OSHA, EPA, DTSC, AQMD, SWRCB)
- Support EHS Department in developing and conducting Environmental, Health, and Safety programs, policies, and trainings.
- Support EHS Department to manage the hazardous waste management program.
- Ensure sites are compliant with the BEI Hazard Communication program.
- Propose and execute an EHS related project.
- Assist in ensuring that documentation of onsite injuries and the Incident Investigation process are promptly reported, including root cause analysis and recommendation of corrective actions.
- Perform periodic, site wide and area specific compliance evaluations and audits.
- Track and assist with safety related preventative maintenance such as signage, fire extinguisher, AED and emergency eye wash, etc.
- Other EHS duties will be assigned as needed to support the EHS Department.
- Maintains and protects the confidentiality of the Company’s information and product.
GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS – Education, Knowledge, and Experience |
- The candidate should be prepared to work in a fast-paced team environment, be able to handle several assignments concurrently, and will finish the internship having gained broad experience in various aspects of EHS, and an in-depth understanding of Aerospace Manufacturing Operations.
- Must possess excellent written and verbal communication/presentation skills.
- Knowledge in local, state level, national and international laws and regulations related to protection of the environment and the health and safety of our employees
Education:
- Actively pursuing a four-year college degree, preferably in a field related to Occupational Health and Safety or Environmental Management
- Or 1-2 years post graduate with a relevant degree.
Experience:
- No experience required.
Preferred Skills/Experience:
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Proactive attitude and eagerness to learn
- Academic excellence (GPA of 3.0 or higher preferred)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Other:
- May be asked to work extended or irregular hours as required.
- Must show proof of ability to work in the United States.
