Position Summary
The ideal candidate will play a key role in supporting teachers' professional growth, ensuring alignment across the curriculum, and providing leadership through collaborative efforts to design, develop, implement, and assess the Elementary K-5 Reading Language Arts curriculum. They will offer instructional leadership, support classroom teaching, and foster positive change to enhance student engagement and achievement. The candidate will ensure a coherent and aligned K-5 RLA instructional program aligned to Science of Teaching Reading.
This role requires close collaboration with district staff, educators, and external partners to develop, implement, and evaluate effective programs for students' learning. The candidate will also provide guidance and leadership to classroom practices, ensuring consistency and cohesion in the instructional approach for all learners. Additionally, the role involves assisting district and campus administrators with program management and facilitating communication with parents and other stakeholders.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
- Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for subjects assigned.
- Five (5) years teaching experience.
- Must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check. Non-refundable fee (approximately $50.00) paid by the candidate.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in the program area, Educational Administration, Leadership, or Instructional Design.
- Texas Reading Academy- Certificate of Completion.

- Knowledge of instructional design principles involving student-centered learning and teaching?
- Knowledge of adult learning theories and models, (i.e., scenario-based training, mentoring, etc.)

Essential Functions/Key Responsibilities
- Assist teachers/teacher teams in developing instructional units that integrate content and implement meaningful use of technology as a learning tool.
- Assume a leadership role to implement quality professional development aligned with the district goals and initiatives.
- Assume a leadership role in the adoption and acquisition of aligned instructional resources.
- Design, implement, measure, and refine assigned programs and assist with quality improvement efforts.
- Develop, align, and maintain the district’s elementary RLA curriculum to ensure student learning of the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS).
- Ensure continuous improvement in teacher and student performance through effective curriculum design practices.
- Establish integrated management systems to evaluate the curriculum and instruction program effectiveness for the assigned subject area based on evaluative findings (including student achievement data) and recommend changes as needed.
- Exhibit a high degree of initiative in response to curricular/instructional support requests.
- Facilitate the development of collaborative cultures at the campus and district levels.
- Facilitate the development of elementary RLA curriculum-based assessments aligned to the depth and complexity of the TEKS and share assessment data with district staff as directed.?
- Facilitate the implementation and data reporting of K-2 TEA Early Reading Screeners and support associated required PEIMS/ECDS reporting.
- Model/demonstrate exemplary curriculum design strategies.
- Network with out-of-district entities to ensure district practices stay current with state and national best practice trends.
- Respond promptly and positively to all requests for support from campus and district administrators.
- Share leadership responsibility with campus and district administrators for creating change-adept learning communities.
- Work with campus- and district-level colleagues to establish and maintain exemplary learning environments.
- Other duties as assigned by the administrator.
- Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and board policy.
- Comply with all district routines and regulations.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Working Conditions
Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office and instructional equipment including personal computer and peripherals.
