We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Community Reporter to cover the news and events in Bogalusa, La. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in community life, police activities, local government, schools, school board meetings, and local sports. The Community Reporter will be responsible for gathering information, conducting interviews, and writing stories that reflect the happenings in the Bogalusa area.Responsibilities : Attend community events, city council meetings, police briefings, school board meetings, and local sports games to gather news and informationConduct interviews with local residents, officials, coaches, and community leadersWrite clear, concise stories that inform and engage the communityCollaborate with co-workers to ensure accurate and timely coverage of eventsUse social media and other online platforms to promote and share stories with the communityAdhere to journalistic ethics and standards in all reporting activitiesQualifications : Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or a related fieldStrong writing and communication skillsAbility to work independently and meet deadlinesKnowledge of AP style and journalistic principlesFamiliarity with online publishing platforms and social mediaPrevious experience in journalism or reporting is preferred, but not requiredThis is a full-time position with the opportunity for growth and advancement in the field of journalism.
