Company is targeting high-growth and affluent metropolitan areas to build. Revenues are increasing over 100% year-over-year. There are multiple real estate development projects (>
250 million combined) scheduled for completion in 2025 and 20 projects in the pipeline (2026-2028).
OPPORTUNITY : The Director of Architecture & Design leads the conceptual and strategic direction of architectural projects, overseeing design integrity, from inception through construction administration completion. This role requires licensing and the ability to produce and stamp 100% CD quality permit drawings. The role requires high-level decision-making, collaboration with company leaders to understand their vision and requirements and ensuring that projects adhere to all relevant codes and regulations. This person also plays a crucial role in coordinating with engineers (MEP’s and Civil) and contractors, guiding the project’s aesthetic and functional aspects to meet objectives and budget.
Beyond the architectural design and production of the working drawings, this individual contributes to the broader strategic goals of the company, including business development and RFP responses, along with continuous innovation of design practices. With a deep understanding of both the art and science of architecture, this person influences the development of functional and visually appealing structures. Their leadership ensures that projects achieve design excellence and reflect the company’s commitment to safety, quality, and innovation.
Strategic Leadership & Business Development
- Guide projects from conception to completion, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.
- Lead in risk assessment, 3rd party design consultant contract negotiations for MEP, Civil, and any other necessary consultant service.
- Implement and develop a highly efficient small architectural team to meet our pipeline demands.
- Make critical fee and pricing decisions as they relate to the design process.
- Serve as the primary point of contact across the design providers, symbolizing the face of excellence in project performance.
- Actively participate in the development of proposals that accurately and concisely define the scope of work, which achieves the company’s objectives and support group decisions.
Project Management & Operational Excellence
Extreme ownership of producing and stamping 100% construction level architectural documents, while leading the coordination and integration of all other design disciplines.Maintain a clear view on budget and financial aspects, ensuring fiscal responsibility throughout the project lifecycle.Take charge in all Design and Working Drawing Production, with lead responsibilities in producing architectural stamped drawings along with coordinating and incorporating all other disciplines, while providing estimating and proposal crafting.Lead the MEP, Structural, & Civil design and integration process to produce industry leading design documents.Ensure that the design and submittal of the stamped document sets meet expectations in terms of budget, aesthetics, scope, and our pipeline requirements.Manage 8 to 10 projects per year. Examples of projects : 1 campus is typically 3-4 hangars ( / -42,000 sq ft), a 2,500 sq ft GSE office, land, and air side circulation areas.Team Leadership & Development

Oversee the entire spectrum of construction activities, from initial conceptual design through construction administration.Quality and Compliance : Ensure that every aspect of the project aligns with company standards, industry norms, and regulatory requirements.Experience & Industry Knowledge
Minimum 12 years’ experience in the General Aviation design, with proven fixed based operator and hangar design experience.Licensed Architect with the ability to secure licensing in other states in a very streamlined, expedited timeline. Potential first projects will be in the state of Arizona, Oregon, New Jersey, Colorado, Florida.Bachelor’s degree in architecture, design engineering, construction management, or a related technical field (preferred).Metal building system knowledge a MUST.Proven experience with architectural plan development.Experience managing design and permitting of large construction projects specifically with aviation terminals, hangars, apron, airside, landside circulation / layout.Experience working both independently and, in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.Experience working in an environment with shifting priorities, demands and timelines.Strong communication and relationship building-skills to effectively support and connect with diverse team members and contractors.Ability to listen and respond to specific requests as directed by stakeholders.Ability to understand project and company financials.Excellent leadership and team development skills.Experience with Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project, Timberline, AutoCAD, Tekla, and Revit. Competency with Microsoft Office Suite : Excel, Word, Smartsheet, Project and Visio and other technology, as necessary. Should be adept and quick to learn architecture design software, project management software, scheduling programs, building information systems, etc.Strong grasp of prime contract requirements and risk mitigation.Travel as needed for company meetings and site visits to review project progress and statusREWARD : Up to $180,000 in base salary, plus annual cash bonus and annual equity reward opportunities.
