Role Overview
The CFO of BISim is a strategic business partner and a key member of the executive leadership team, responsible for the company's financial health, planning, and operational performance. This role requires a hands-on leader who can balance financial strategy with operational execution in a dynamic, multinational, and technology-driven environment. The CFO will ensure financial integrity, drive business growth, and align financial operations with the strategic objectives of BISim and BAE Systems Inc.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Strategy & Leadership
- Develop and execute financial strategies that support BISim’s long-term business objectives while aligning with BAE Systems Inc.’s corporate governance.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to the President and executive team to drive business growth and operational efficiency.
- Act as a key financial liaison between BISim and BAE Systems Inc., ensuring compliance with corporate policies and reporting requirements.
Operational & Risk Management
- Manage relationships with auditors, banks, and external stakeholders, ensuring transparency and accountability.
- Optimize cash flow management, working capital, and investment strategies to support business growth.
- Maintain robust financial controls, risk management processes, and compliance frameworks, including:
- Operational Assurance Statements (OAS)
- Delegation of Authority (DoA) & associated Finance Signature Approval Matrix
- Financial Control Framework (FCF) and Control Owner Self-Assessment (COSAs)
Financial Planning, Analysis & Reporting
- Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling to optimize resource allocation and profitability.
- Monitor and analyze financial performance, provide proactive insights to mitigate risks, capitalize on opportunities, and hold the organization accountable.
- Ensure timely, accurate, and consistent reporting of financial information, including month-end, transfer pricing, statutory accounts, tax returns, VAT returns, and other regulatory submissions.
- Coordinate, review, and deliver comprehensive monthly and quarterly business reviews (MBR & QBR), integrated business plans (IBP), annual operating plans (AOP), and interim updates to the executive leadership teams at both BISim and BAE Systems Inc. by providing clear financial insights, operational updates, and strategic recommendations.
Internal and External Growth Initiatives
- Review and scrutinize sales pipelines and provide financial and strategic analysis and insight on commercial proposals.
- Ensure continuous improvement of all approval and oversight processes related to financial/commercial matters (deal approvals, revenue recognition, etc.).
- Support business expansion efforts, including potential mergers, acquisitions, and strategic partnerships.
- Conduct due diligence, financial modeling, and integration planning for acquisitions and new business opportunities.
Leadership, Culture & Team Development
- Lead and develop the finance and accounting teams across BISim’s global operations, ensuring a stable, engaged, and productive team through effective and continuous communication.
- Foster a culture of financial discipline, transparency, and continuous improvement, focusing on efficiency and effectiveness to increase time spent on value-added activities.
- Demonstrate strong multicultural awareness and the ability to work effectively in a globally diverse organization, ensuring inclusive leadership and decision-making across international teams.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.
- 15 years of experience in financial leadership roles in defense/technology/software.
- Proven experience managing financial operations across multiple international jurisdictions with practical knowledge of transfer pricing and international tax compliance.
- Strong financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and risk management background.
- Expertise in IFRS compliance, government contracting, and defense industry financial regulations.
- Experience with ERP systems, financial analytics, and automation tools.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across business functions.
- Demonstrated ability to navigate complex, multicultural business environments and effectively engage with teams, partners, and stakeholders across diverse cultural and geographical backgrounds.
Preferred:
- CPA, CFA, or MBA in Finance or related field.
- Experience within a commercial and/or software-oriented BAE Systems business.
- Background in mergers and acquisitions, due diligence, and business integration.
- Ability to obtain a US Security Clearance.
