We are seeking a Deli Associate to build/slice custom orders in an accurate and timely manner according to the approved recipes for the different stations we have in the Deli: Coffee Station, Burrito Station, Sandwich Station, Pizza Station and the Cheese Station. In addition, they will be responsible for all preparation to ready their stations for production, prep, set up and dismantling at the end of the day.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Provide consistently positive customer engagement and communication.
- Model respectful communication with our customers as well as our FOH and BOH associates.
- Uphold and enforce high levels of food safety standards and practices.
- Obtain a 95% or better score on all our EcoSure audits.
- Ensure the preparation of assigned foods are according to the approved recipes and are made in an efficient manner.
- Adhere to all approved recipes in production, following all food handling practices consistently, ensure they practice all safety standards and our company policies and procedure including all attendance policies.
- Monitor the cleanliness of assigned stations throughout the day as needed for food safety and ensuring the floors are free from debris.
- Safely and effectively use small and large kitchen equipment including ovens, stove, tilt skillet, immersion blenders, food processors, mixers, knives and other kitchen equipment.
- Ensure we are reducing waste and shrink by following pars, executing samples, and completing the daily shrink report while ensuring its accuracy.
- Ensure production for grab and go items, and sliced meats and cheeses are full and fresh.
- Maintain the customer shopping areas ensuring they are clean and welcoming (counters, glass and chrome cleaned). Fill and supply front-of-house (FOH) area with appropriate tools: plastic utensils, chopsticks, napkins, sauces, coffee supplies, cups and to-go containers.
- Complete any other duties assigned by your Lead, Assistant Manager or Department Manager.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Demonstrates quality and accurate communication skills that are clear, concise and constructive.
- Ability to follow directions both verbally and written while able to read recipes and understand cooking measurements.
- Shows a high level of positive engagement and interaction with various people and situations.
- Knowledge and experience with food handling protocols is preferred.
- Knowledge and experience with knife safety skills is preferred.
- Ability to work in a team-oriented environment toward a common goal encouraging each other toward success
- Demonstrated ability to accept and give constructive feedback professionally with a growth mindset toward self-improvement.
- Demonstrates flexibility toward changing priorities with the ability to stay focused and accomplish goals while multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to problem solve within our protocols and guidelines to satisfy our customers.
- Able to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the department including early mornings, evenings and weekends.
- Adhere to scheduled shifts and be ready for work when shift begins.
- Ability to consistently be at work and on time.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Food handling permits are required.
- Serv-safe Certifications are recommended.
- Culinary School or similar programs encouraged but not required.
- Experience in the service industry encouraged but not required.
Physical Demands:
Sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in a grocery setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight, up to 50lbs; to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard; and to verbally communicate to exchange information.
Working Environment:
Work is performed primarily in a grocery store setting with extensive public contact and frequent interruptions.
