We are seeking a Grocery Associate responsible for providing world-class customer service while also maintaining grocery products on the shelves of the sales floor and in backstock.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Proactively greet and assist customers.
- Observe safety and security procedures and report potentially unsafe conditions. Use equipment and materials properly; adhere to all Idaho laws regarding food safety and sanitation.
- Stocking shelves efficiently using proper rotational procedures.
- Attain a full understanding of the different shifts throughout the day and their varying responsibilities.
- Maintain organization of work areas and floor sets.
- Label and date product properly.
- Check for expired product and process according to department policies.
- Participate in quarterly inventory counts.
- Assist in maintaining and building displays.
- Demonstrate objectivity, neutrality, and calmness under pressure.
- Demonstrate self-motivation; monitor own work to ensure quality and increase productivity.
- Participate in daily huddles and give store updates as needed.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Ability to build relationships, learn quickly, and maintain strong interpersonal skills.
- Manage workload and prioritize tasks independently.
- Handle basic issues and problems and refer more complex issues to high-level staff.
- Able to perform assigned tasks within various areas of the department.
- Ability to exhibit a strong work ethic and encourage teamwork.
- Able to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the department including early mornings, evenings and weekends.
- Adhere to scheduled shifts and be ready for work when shift begins.
- Ability to consistently be at work and on time.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Retail experience is preferred but not required.
- 18 years old to operate equipment by law.
Physical Demands:
Sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in a grocery setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight, up to 50lbs; to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard; and to verbally communicate to exchange information.
Working Environment:
Work is performed primarily in a grocery store setting with extensive public contact and frequent interruptions.
