Job Description: Audio Visual Technician
Position Overview

We are seeking a reliable and skilled Church Technician to oversee and operate the technical systems used during our Sunday services. This part-time position requires hands-on experience with sound systems, presentation software, and live-streaming technology. The technician will work collaboratively with an additional volunteer each week to ensure smooth operation.
The technician will work collaboratively with a weekly volunteer and church staff. While the role does not include paid vacation, candidates must be available at least 44 Sundays per year. If needed, we are open to hiring two technicians to share the commitment.
ResponsibilitiesPre-Service (9:15 AM - 10:00 AM):
- Set up and test all technical systems, including the soundboard, presentation software (e.g., PowerPoint), and live-streaming equipment.
- Coordinate with the worship team, pastor, and volunteers to confirm audio, visual, and streaming requirements.
- Troubleshoot any technical issues before the service begins.
During Service (10:00 AM - 11:15 AM):
- Operate the soundboard to ensure clear audio for in-person and online attendees.
- Manage the presentation screen to display slides, lyrics, and other visuals.
- Monitor and manage the live stream to ensure high-quality transmission.
- Address technical issues promptly and efficiently as they arise.
- Provide a brief handover or debrief to the tech volunteer to ensure they
- Shut down and secure all technical equipment.
- Save and archive live-stream recordings and presentations as needed.
Preparation and Maintenance (1 hour/week on average):
- Review and prepare presentation slides or media content in advance if a volunteer is unable to do so.
- Perform regular maintenance and testing of technical equipment.
- Troubleshoot recurring or potential technical issues.
- Research new technologies and make recommendations
Qualifications
- Proficiency in operating soundboards, presentation software, and live-streaming platforms.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with volunteers, music groups, and church staff.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing technical needs and service requirements.
Schedule & Compensation
- Sundays: 9:15 AM - 11:15 AM (mandatory).
- Additional weekly preparation (~1 hour)—flexible schedule.
- Pay: $25 per hour.
- No paid vacation days.
Commitment
- Must be available to work at least 44 Sundays per calendar year. A 30 day notice should be given for Sundays requested off.
- If a single technician cannot fulfill this commitment, we are open to hiring two separate technicians to share the role.
- Responsible to the Pastor
