Boise Project is currently accepting applications for a Day time Gate Reader. Boise Project Board of Control has been in existence since 1926 and is the largest irrigation entity in the Treasure Valley. We provide year-round employment in a family-like atmosphere. Job duties include but are not limited to:

Records water levels at various headgates, checks, turnouts and spills and makes adjustments accordingly. Operates gates, checks, turnouts and spills to properly regulate water flow in canals and drains. Cleans and maintains culvert crossings, grates, etc.

Preferred qualifications: Good knowledge of water delivery, definitions and formulas; water use practices; good knowledge of Idaho traffic safety laws, safe driving practices, vehicle service and preventative maintenance requirements.

This position is classified as non-exempt. Must have a clean driving record. Requires basic math and computer skills. Must be physically fit and able to lift 50 lbs., walk on uneven terrain and up/down steep canal banks.

7 days a week (40 hours) during the water season from April to October; Monday-Friday during off water season from November through March.

Wages start at $19.00 an hour based on experience; plus seasonal pay will be provided during the water season. Benefits within 90 days include full medical, dental, vision, and PERSI retirement.

Due to the nature of the job, the employee must be available for emergencies and on-call duty.
