What are the responsibilities and job description for the Feedyard General Manager position at Boise Valley Feeders, LLC?
POSITION PURPOSE:
The General Manager is responsible for managing the overall operation of the feedyard. Through focus on creating a culture that is aligned with the mission and values of Agri Beef and through the use of effective leadership skills, the General Manager will ensure that the feedyard produces excellent results in the areas of employee safety, animal welfare, financial performance, and cattle performance. This position reports to the Vice President of SRF Cattle.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead and manage feedyard operation, ensuring all team members and consultants are working toward achieving company goals and producing a quality product
- Monitor and evaluate feedyard activities through personal observations, meetings, and data analysis to ensure compliance with safety, welfare, and operational standards
- Ensure that feedyard processes are carried out effectively by engaging with the team, providing regular feedback, and identifying operational improvements
- Develop and mentor the feedyard team to increase their capability and drive ongoing progress toward the achievement of company goals
- Ensure accurate record keeping and compliance with all applicable regulations (e.g. OSHA, EPA) and company policies (e.g. HACCP, Animal Handling and Welfare, Safety)
- Develop and be accountable for the feedlot operating and capital budgets
- Manage procurement and inventory of feed commodities for location.
- Work with corporate feeder cattle procurement team to determine feeder cattle needs; ensure cattle are properly cared for upon arrival
- Work with corporate fed cattle procurement team to ensure cattle are of excellent quality and delivered to the plant as specified
- Represent the company at community and industry events, fostering positive relationships and enhancing the company’s reputation.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree in Agricultural Business, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of five years of management experience in feedyard operations, with a demonstrated track record of success.
