Job description
Damage Prevention Technician to perform utility locating along with watch and protect activities for high-pressured oil, products, and gas pipelines and other utilities. The ideal candidate will be one that is highly motivated, willing to learn the trade, able to travel, and enjoys working independently.
**Candidate must live within 40 miles of Salt Lake City, UT (84116). Part of the consideration for hire is due to proximity to the work and the current home location of the applicant. Should at any point during the employment with Bolins in this position, the applicant would decide to move further away, it may result in loss of company vehicle to drive back and forth to work or the applicant will have to add in current cost/mileage fee for the vehicle for the additional miles incurred each day. This would be deducted from their check.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- Processing of customer one-call ticket notifications via customer software
- Utility locating using a line locator
- Watch and protect third-party excavation activities near or crossing customer utilities
- Monitor 3rd party job sites near designated utility
- Objectively describe and report job site activity in clear, concise details, and enter into log application on company provided computer
Other duties may be assigned in association to the Essential Duties and Responsibilities include:
- Use of weed trimmer
- Use of utility marker installation tools
- Mandatory overtime with occasional weekend shift
- Assignment to temporary work in other Bolin groups/crews
Skills Required: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Candidate must have the ability to:
- Utility Location experience
- Communicate effectively
- Work independently
- Use technology in the form of laptop computer and smart phone
- Read utility maps and measuring tape walk at various inclines
- Pass all training qualifications and certifications designated for this position adhere to safety expectations
- Stay focused
Education
- High School Degree or GED equivalent required
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record are required.
- Must have a REAL ID Driver’s License
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Must be able to pass pre-employment DOT drug test and background check (this position is subject to DOT drug pulls throughout the year)
- TWIC card preferred, but not required
Rate of Pay: $22-$23 per hour (depending upon experience)
Job Type: Full-time

- 8-10 hour shifts (typical), >10-hr shifts (occasionally)
- Monday to Friday is typical, but must be available for weekend work when assigned
