The RN-Outpatient Services Center serves as the team lead over nursing staff within the Outpatient Services Center Unit. The Clinical Coordinator will also fulfill duties of the Registered Nurse job description.

To perform this job, an individual must perform each essential function satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodation.

• Ability to adequately assess and reassess pain. Utilizes appropriate pain management techniques. Educates the patient and family regarding pain management.
• Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
• Interacts professionally with patients/families; treats patients and their families with respect and dignity. Identifies and addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic and religious/spiritual needs of patients and their families.
•Effectively and appropriately communicate with patients, physicians, family members and co-workers, demonstrating customer service excellence through application of positive language principles, appropriate response and use of constructive problem-solving techniques which foster positive outcomes.

• Performance reflects knowledge in all areas of care specific to outpatient surgery (i.e., GI, autologous, sedation).
• Organizes and manages nursing activities reflecting due consideration for patients’ needs and the needs of the facility and staff.
• Follows the six (6) medication rights and reduces the potential for medication errors.
• Maintains current knowledge of medications and IV fluids and their correct administration based on age of the patient and their clinical condition.
• Provides patient with explanation and verbal reassurance consistently.
• Identifies physical symptoms and changes and takes appropriate action in a timely manner.
• Knowledge of cardiac monitoring and can identify dysrhythmias.
• Demonstrates an ability to assist physicians in the OPS/GI unit.
• Carries out medical and surgical asepsis during treatments and special procedures
• Maintains accurate and continued documentation. Documentation meets current standards and policies.
• Functions as liaison between administration, patients, physicians, and other healthcare providers.
• Assists in orientation and training of new staff/students as necessary.
• Consults other departments as appropriate to collaborate in patient care and performance improvement activities.
• Keeps current with principles and practices, regulations, and standards that apply to healthcare.
• Performs other reasonably related job duties as assigned or requested, within scope of practice.


Qualifications

Education:
Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required.
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Licenses:
Must have a current Mississippi Registered Nurse license or a current Compact State Registered Nurse license.

Certifications:
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification, required within 90 days of hire or transfer.
• American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required within 90 days of hire or transfer.
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Certification required within 90 days of hire or transfer.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certification required within 90 days of hire or transfer.

Experience:
Previous clinical nursing experience in an inpatient setting (hospital), preferred
