Transporter Role

To perform this job, an individual must perform each essential function satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodation.

§  Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.

§   Interacts professionally with patients/families; treats patients and their families with respect and dignity.

§  Effectively and appropriately communicate with patients, physicians, family members and co-workers, demonstrating customer service excellence through application of positive language principles, appropriate response and use of constructive problem-solving techniques which foster positive outcomes.

§  Delivers equipment and specimens to requested staff or department.

§  Greets and provides information and direction to patients and visitors.

§  Identifies patient by using two (2) accepted methods of identification.

§  Transports patients, including any medical equipment, via wheelchair, stretcher or bed to designated sites as requested.

§  Assists patients with entering and exiting vehicles, including transfer from or to wheelchairs or stretchers.

§  Applies principles infection control procedures.

§  Consults with other departments as appropriate to collaborate in patient care.

§  Assists in orientation and training of new staff/students as necessary.

§  Keeps current with principles and practices, regulations, and standards that apply to healthcare.

§  Performs other reasonably related job duties as assigned or requested, within scope of practice.

§  Monitors patient condition continually and reports/responds to changes in status as appropriate.

Qualifications

 

Education:
High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED), or equivalent, preferred

 

Required Licenses:
N/A

 

Required Certifications:

§  American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required within 90 days of hire or transfer.

§  Certification in Non-Violent De-Escalation & Crisis Intervention Training, required within 90 days of hire or transfer.

§  Patient Lift training, required within 90 days of hire or transfer.
