At the Bolles Bartram Campus students learn responsibility, decision-making, and time management as they explore their interests in academics, arts, community service, and/or athletics. The middle school curriculum encourages students to expand their interests while they also prepare for the challenges and rigor of upper school. The programs offered in middle school begin to take on a more demanding pace for which the faculty works to prepare students

Position Purpose
The Middle School Math Teacher is responsible for delivering a dynamic and engaging math curriculum to students in grades 6–8. The ideal candidate is a passionate educator with a deep understanding of math content, developmental appropriateness, and innovative instructional strategies. In addition to teaching responsibilities, this faculty member will serve as a student advisor and actively participate in the life of the school.
Essential Functions
- Design and implement a comprehensive and developmentally appropriate math curriculum aligned with department goals.
- Prepare engaging lesson plans, deliver instruction, and assess student understanding through a variety of assessment tools.
- Collaborate with colleagues to ensure consistency across grade levels and support student learning.
- Establish clear classroom expectations and maintain a positive, inclusive learning environment.
- Communicate regularly with students, families, and advisors regarding academic progress and classroom behavior.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance and grades and prepare written comments and report cards.
- Participate in team meetings, student support conversations, and grade-level planning.
- Serves as an advisor, including leading advisory activities, supporting advises’ social-emotional growth and academic progress, and effectively communicating with parents.
- Attend and help coordinate field trips, including overnight grade-level class trips.
- Offer academic support during "zero hour" as needed.
- Stay current in the field through professional development, reading, and engagement with new technologies and teaching practices.
- Participate in parent-teacher conferences to discuss student progress and address any concerns.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Head of Middle School.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in mathematics or a related field; master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of three years teaching experience, ideally in an independent school setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated expertise in instructional design and active learning strategies.
- Proficiency with educational technology and digital learning platforms.
- Excellent classroom management and organizational skills.
- Enthusiasm for working with middle school students and supporting their academic and personal growth.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift to 15 pounds at times.
