Job Title: Technical Welding Automation Supervisor
Location: Pascagoula, MS
Job Summary
The Technical Welding Automation Supervisor is responsible for identifying and implementing opportunities for automation in the welding process. This role ensures that robotic and automated welding equipment is used effectively throughout the construction process while maintaining quality standards. The supervisor will coordinate with various crafts, including fitters, electricians, and pipe workers, to optimize welding automation applications.
Key Responsibilities
Automation & Equipment Optimization
- Identify opportunities to utilize MT1, MT2, Classic Robots, Crawlers, Buggos, Track Torches, and Oscillators based on design features.
- Ensure proper function and efficiency of all preheat equipment on the panel line.
- Monitor T-Beam line fit-up for robotic standards before parts enter MT1.
- Ensure all preheat and robotic systems on MT1 are fully operational.
- Monitor web line fit-up for robotic standards before parts enter MT2.
Classic Robots & Crawler Robots Implementation
- Continuously identify construction jobs where Classic Robots can be used.
- Ensure fit-up for Classic Robots meets robotic standards.
- Coordinate with fitters, electricians, and pipe workers to maintain access throughout the Classic Robot welding process.
- Identify construction jobs suitable for Crawler Robots.
- Ensure fit-up for Crawler Robots meets robotic standards.
- Coordinate with fitters, electricians, and pipe workers to maintain access throughout the Crawler Robot welding process.
Additional Welding Automation
- Identify and implement Buggos and Oscillating Buggos for welding applications.
- Identify and implement Track Torches in applicable construction jobs.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a shipbuilding manufacturing environment
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience automated/semi-automated welding processes
- Minimum of 6 months’ experience in a supervisory and/or lead capacity role
- Advanced knowledge and understanding of Robotic equipment and supporting programs
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate tasks in a multi-faceted workforce
- Knowledge and understanding of the use and the setup of equipment across all automated/semi-automated welding processes
- Sound knowledge of the use of pre-heat processes
