GENERAL FUNCTION :
A welding designer at Bollinger Mississippi Shipbuilding (BMS) utilizes their knowledge and experience to review, modify, and design welds to facilitate high-quality construction of modern ships for the United States Coast Guard, Navy, and other government and commercial customers. Utilizes the latest computer-aided design tools such as AutoCAD, Navisworks, and ShipConstructor. Gathers information, calculates and checks welding sizes, and adds welding callouts to production drawings. Coordinates design criteria with engineering, production, and planning groups to ensure a highly producible design.
TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Calculate and check welding sizes for production drawings.
- Add welding callouts to production drawings.
- Coordinate with other sections when appropriate.
- Ensure BMS Computer Automated Design (CAD) standards are followed.
- Ensure work meets the requirements of applicable regulatory bodies and job specifications.
