What are the responsibilities and job description for the Machine Operator position at Bollman Hat Company?
We are excited to announce immediate full-time openings in the Carding Department of our factory located just 15 minutes away from Reading, PA!
Our positions are key parts of the artisan hat making and the hat finishing processes. You will work with skilled mentors as they share their craft with you and pass down decades of knowledge within this specialized craft. As an employee-owned Company, our fellow owners are proud of the work they perform and their role in producing high quality headwear. These positions do not require experience but do require candidates that have a willingness to learn and the ability to understand the importance of each person’s role in creating high-quality headwear.
Our full-time positions have the following schedule: Monday – Friday, 6am – 2:30pm (Our summer hours are 5am-1:30pm starting after July 4th and going through Labor Day)
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Individual takes the cotton like wool hat a place it into the hardening machine. Then engage pressure and steam to put the tip on the hat.
- The individual then removes the hat from the machine and moves it to the other side of the machine. The hat is then placed into the machines where the machine uses additional pressure to complete the process.
We are looking for the following:
- Strong work ethic
- Good attention to detail
- Positive demeanor
- Ability to lift/push/pull 25-50 lbs. on a regular basis for some of our more physical positions
- Ability to navigate stairs/stairwells
- Access to reliable transportation
- Ability to work with wool material and products
- Ability to work in environments that can become extremely hot/humid
- A passion to do things right the first time is a must!
