Overview: The CNC Machinist will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC milling and/or turning machines to produce precision parts. This includes reading blueprints, selecting appropriate tooling, and performing quality checks. The candidate will have a strong understanding of machining principles, materials, and measurement tools.
Responsibilities:
- Organize and set up projects by determining project requirements from engineers, drawings and sourcing required tooling and materials.
- Reads and interprets blueprints to maintain dimensions within tolerances of precision machined parts.
- Place purchase orders to acquire tools and materials.
- Complete machining projects, start to finish, through MasterCAM CNC programming, machine/stock set-up and finishing operations as required (inspection, de-burring, and cleaning of parts.
- Troubleshoot and resolve most machine operation issues without assistance and be able to perform basic machine set ups.
- Ensure high quality parts by closely monitoring and adjusting operation of machine and/or tooling while regularly inspecting parts for conformance to requirements.
- Ability to quickly detect and correct minor malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining.
- Quickly raises and machining or quality issues with appropriate supervision or engineering support.
- Suggest areas for improvement to the production process.
Qualifications:
Required Skills and Experience:
- 3 years of hands-on experience in a CNC machining environment.
- Proven experience with CAM software (MasterCAM)
- Experience using 3D modeling software (SolidWorks)
- Hands-on experience operating and setting up CNC milling machines (HAAS and Prototrak CNC Mills)
- A solid understanding of machining principles (feeds and speeds, tool selection, material selection, etc)
- Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments (Micrometers, calipers, optical comparators, etc.)
- Mechanical aptitude and the ability to assemble and disassemble parts and assemblies.
- Independently solve problems and troubleshoot machining issues.
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to set and achieve objectives.
- Ability to thrive in dynamic environment with changing demands and priorities.
- Exceptional organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
Nice to Have Skills and experience:
- Interpret and apply of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
- Set up and operation of surface grinding equipment
- Experience with tool making, small parts and high precision work.
Salary : $30 - $45
