Summary:
The Consultant will play a key role in providing support to consulting teams, particularly in marketing,
communications, healthcare financial analysis and management reporting. The Consultant will
participate in variety of practice initiatives and client projects, gaining technical knowledge and
industry experience while working with and being mentored by our Senior Consultants. The successful
and hardworking Consultant will build an employee benefit consulting career by developing technical
expertise, while participating in client strategy meetings and consulting sessions and pursuing business
and community development opportunities.
Requirements:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead small client teams and work with Senior Consultant on large client teams throughout entire client-service cycle, helping to solve complex client issues from strategy to execution.
- Participate in meetings and client calls and assist with preparation and delivery of client reports and communications.
- Establish rapport and trust to build effective working relationships with clients and vendors.
- Lead support in the preparation of proposals and presentations for potential clients.
- Oversee project management and client deliverables, ensure quality and timeliness
- Engage in new business activity and identify new growth opportunities.
- Ensure quality control processes
- Oversee work of analysts and administrative support team.
- Lead internal training sessions.
- Collaborate with other practices to achieve technical knowledge of Bolton’s full array of services to effectively identify opportunities and expand service offerings.
- Develop knowledge of innovative and strategic opportunities within industry.
- Take personal responsibility for ongoing continual personal development.
- Utilize internal resources effectively on client projects based on expertise.
- Work within the client budget established.
- Ability to manage multiple client projects and work assignments under aggressive timeframes
- Stay up-to-date with current trends in the industry, monitor market developments and keep clients well-informed of compliance related issues
- Gather data to form conclusions and benchmark key utilization and cost statistics to manage clients’ health plans.
Qualifications:
Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; with 5 or more years of experience at a consulting firm or health insurance carrier or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience mentoring staff.
- History of relationship building and client/management interaction.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Self-motivated, resourceful and creative with the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Strong analytical thinking skills to analyze results and best communicate them to clients.
- Ability to plan projects, identify project deliverables, meet deadlines and ensure compliance with quality procedures.
- Analyzing clients medical claim data to understand historical trends and suggest opportunities to implement savings initiatives.
- Completing IBNR reserve analyses.
- Researching business and industry trends to develop a point of view to leverage in assisting with proposals, considering opportunities across multiple lines of service.
- Working with large, complex data sets to build models and leverage data visualization tools to provide insights to clients.
- Dynamic people skills with the desire to develop a successful client base through networking, writing articles, speaking engagements and other marketing methods.
Certificates and Licenses:
Maryland Health and Life Insurance License (or obtained within 90 days).
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Supervise/manage/direct the selection, training, development, appraisal, and work assignments of personnel.
Travel:
Occasional overnight travel (up to 20%) by land and/or air
