About the Role
This position requires strong technical skills, including the ability to operate machining equipment such as mills and lathes. You will work with various materials, including mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminum, and be responsible for performing tasks such as deburring, cutting, polishing, blending, and smoothing machined parts.
You will also be responsible for maintaining existing documents, shop aid tools, and blueprints for applicable machines and equipment. Additionally, you will develop and edit programs for machining equipment as required.
Requirements
- The ability to deburr, cut, polish, blend, and smooth the surfaces of machined parts using hand tools such as grinders, deburring tools, drill, and files
- Basic knowledge of properties of mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminum applicable to part fabrication
- The ability to operate conventional and computerized machining equipment including both mills and lathes
- The ability to build shop aid tools to further enhance machining operation for applicable equipment
- The ability to distinguish between a sharp and a dull or chipped tool
- The ability to operate and calibrate tool setter per assigned area
