Job Description

BON SECOURS BALTIMORE FOUNDATION

POSITION SUMMARY

The Family Advocate/ In-Home Interventionist is a staff member with the Family Support Center (FSC)/Early Head Start (EHS) program who will provide home-based services to parents and children (birth to 36 months old). He/she will maintain on-going contact with families and support the family with all other components (health, nutrition, family services, mental health, special services, parent education, and resource/referral) that will build upon their strengths and enhance their self-sufficiency.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

1.Bachelor’s Degree required in Allied Human Services, Social Work, Early Childhood Education or Human Development with experience in home visiting, counseling, working with families with young children and/or advocacy (preferred) or have, within eighteen months of hire, at a minimum, a credential or certification in social work, human services, family services, counseling or a related field (minimum).a.90 Hour Child Care Certification and 45 Hour Infant-Toddler certificates preferred but must be willing to get certification within six (6) months of hire.

2.Have current medical evaluation, including a tuberculosis (TB) screen within six months before the individual begins work in the Center.

3.At least two (2) years’ experience in the human services field.

4.Case management or related experience.

5.Experience conducting outreach/recruitment and presentations.

6.Experience working with low-income families, youth, survivors of domestic violence, populations impacted by substance abuse, mental illness, and HIV/AIDS and other diverse communities.

7.Have knowledge of substance abuse and domestic violence, and its effect on families.

8.Experience documenting client services in paper files and online databases

9.Knowledge of community resources for low-income families in Baltimore City.

10.Computer literate – experience with MS Office Suite.

11.Certification in CPR and First Aid required within six (6) months of hire.

12.Effective oral and written communication skills.

13.Ability to work flexible schedule (i.e. weekends, evening, holidays)

14.Must have own transportation, possess valid Maryland Driver’s License and current car insurance on their vehicle and have ability to travel extensively in Baltimore City and Baltimore County.
