POSITION PURPOSE

The Director of Retail Marketing is responsible for developing and executing annual marketing strategies and plans to achieve Bona’s North America Retail budget and growth objectives. This role has a strong focus on driving Household Penetration (HHP) by leveraging enterprise-wide initiatives and maximizing “close the loop” efforts between Bona’s Pro and Retail businesses. This individual will identify key category entry points for Bona to own while working closely with Global Marketing to optimize global and local investments. Additionally, this role oversees packaging development, consumer research, and marketing channel strategy while working with internal and external agencies. As a key member of the NAM Leadership Team, the Director of Retail Marketing will contribute to strategic planning, talent development, and business acceleration and will contribute to a positive team atmosphere.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS AND JOB DUTIES

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or a related field and/or equivalent work experience; MBA is a plus
  • 10 years of marketing experience at small-, mid-, and large-sized companies; Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) experience is required
  • Experience in start-ups or scaling a brand is highly desirable
  • Proven success in developing and executing retail marketing strategies
  • Strong background in launching and sustaining innovation (NPD, product positioning, GTM strategies)
  • Experience working across omnichannel environments, including brick-and-mortar and eCommerce
  • Expertise managing marketing channels such as social media, influencer marketing, web, search, TV, and video
  • Experience overseeing packaging development and consumer research is preferred
  • Strong leadership experience with a track record of growing and developing talent
  • Strategic thinking and decision making skills to align business strategy with long-term goals
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally
  • Analytical mindset with a strategic ROI-driven approach
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 20%
  • Extensive working knowledge of PC functions and Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint

JOB DUTIES:

  • Develop and execute annual marketing strategies to support and achieve Bona’s North America Retail budget and business goals.
  • Drive Household Penetration (HHP) growth by identifying and leveraging key opportunities across the enterprise.
  • Lead “close the loop” initiatives between Bona’s Pro and Retail segments to maximize cross-channel synergies and drive customer conversion.
  • Identify and own key category entry points to expand presence and market share in the retail space.
  • Collaborate with Global Marketing to align strategies, optimize resource allocation, and enhance the impact of global and local marketing efforts.
  • Oversee packaging development and artwork to ensure strong branding, compliance, and shelf appeal.
  • Conduct consumer research and insights analysis to inform product positioning, marketing strategy, and innovation.
  • Manage key marketing channels including social media, influencer partnerships, web, search, TV, and video to maximize reach and engagement.
  • Develop and execute New Product Development (NPD) strategies, including product positioning and go-to-market (GTM) plans.
  • Work with internal and external agencies to develop creative assets, advertising, and digital marketing campaigns.
  • Oversee retail marketing team development, fostering talent growth and capabilities and shaping the long-term vision for marketing within the organization.
  • Lead and manage direct report(s) to ensure the successful execution of brand and marketing initiatives.
  • Leverage a data-driven, test-and-learn approach to continuously optimize marketing effectiveness and maximize ROI.
  • Work cross-functionally with key stakeholders across Sales, Product Development, and Retail teams to drive alignment and accelerate business performance.
  • Strong conceptual thinking and understanding of marketing & branding strategy to produce out-of-the-box collaterals, labels, packaging, brochures, ads, and campaigns.
  • Able and willing to work the necessary hours to meet all project deadlines; travel when necessary.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
  • Must be able to bend, climb stairs, and continuously stand or walk 25% of the time.
  • Must be able to occasionally move within the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Must be able to lift 10-20 pounds (packages, copy paper boxes, etc.)
  • Must be able to communicate effectively by listening and also in both written and verbal forms.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Generally, works in an office environment but may occasionally be required to perform job duties outside of the typical office setting.
  • This position regularly requires large amounts of time to be spent using and viewing computer screens and equipment, which generally entails regular and repetitive motions.
  • May occasionally be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, or chemicals. All safety procedures should be adhered to in each of these situations.

Compensation for the role will depend on several factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience, and may fall outside of the range provided. The compensation range listed above may encompass base salary, performance-based bonuses, and commission opportunities, if applicable.
