Position Overview:
The Staff Accountant will play an important role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining records, and supporting the accounting team with day-to-day financial operations. The Staff Accountant will work with the general contractor, and lenders to review and finalize construction draws. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented professional looking to grow their career in real estate accounting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review general contractor “pencil” draws and work to convert to approved draws.
- Coordinate the collection of lien waivers from the general contractor and subcontractors.
- Prepare and post journal entries, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
- Reconcile bank accounts, general ledger accounts, and other financial records.
- Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Support accounts payable and receivable processes, including invoice management and payment tracking.
- Monitor project budgets and expenses to ensure alignment with financial plans.
- Assist in audits by providing necessary documentation and resolving discrepancies.
- Maintain organized financial records and contribute to process improvements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 3 years of accounting experience; real estate or construction accounting is a plus.
- Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Yardi, or similar platforms).
- Strong knowledge of GAAP principles.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- High attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
