Bond, Schoeneck & King, PLLC, a law firm of 300 attorneys in more than 30 practice and industry groups, is seeking a Commercial Pricing Manager/Pricing Analyst to play a significant role in the Firm’s strategic pricing standards and pricing governance. This includes but is not limited to billing rates and alternative fee arrangement administration and profitability evaluations of legal work. The Pricing Analyst will play a crucial role in developing and implementing pricing strategies to maximize profitability and ensure competitive positioning in the market. This role requires a strong understanding of financial analysis, market trends, and legal industry dynamics.
Position Responsibilities:
- Pricing Strategy Development: Collaborate with the Accounting Team under the leadership of the Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operations Officer to develop and refine pricing models and strategies for various legal services.
- Build economic models to assess profitability for new business proposals and workable pricing solutions based on client requirements and present recommendations to attorneys.
- Financial Analysis: Conduct detailed financial analysis to support pricing decisions, including cost analysis, profitability assessments, and revenue forecasting.
- Creates specific matter plans using budgets that are in line with client and attorney objectives to better track performance.
- Market Research: Analyze market trends, competitor pricing, and industry benchmarks to inform pricing strategies.
- Maintain working knowledge of current legal/nonlegal pricing trends and apply learned concepts to improve the firm's pricing capabilities.
- Proposal Support: Assist in the preparation of pricing proposals for clients, ensuring alignment with firm objectives and client needs.
- Data Management: Maintain and update pricing databases, ensuring accuracy and accessibility of pricing information.
- Create, track and evaluate effectiveness of alternative fee arrangements (AFA’s) and budgets against firm investment.
- Reporting: Generate regular reports on pricing performance, highlighting key insights and recommendations for improvement.
- Collaboration: Serve as a trusted advisor to members to formulate pricing and work closely with business development teams, and other stakeholders to ensure pricing strategies are effectively communicated and implemented.
- Compliance: Ensure all pricing practices comply with legal and regulatory requirements.
Job Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field. Advanced degree or professional certification (e.g., CPA, CFA) is a plus.
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in pricing analysis, financial analysis, or a related role, preferably within the legal industry.
- Skills:
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
- Proficiency in financial modeling and data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, SQL).
- Strong understanding of the fundamental elements of pricing.
- Experience in scenario modelling/compiling pricing proposals.
- Comfortable working with a high volume of data in a fast-paced environment, surrounded by competing priorities.
- Ability to work under pressure and prioritize competing demands to meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills as well as strong client service skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.

This position's salary range is between $100,000 and $150,000 negotiable based on years’ experience.
