Why Bond
We have a unique opportunity for a credentialed nurse who can support our specialty specialty surgeons in providing surgical care to our patients. We are equipped to support a wide range of soft tissue and orthopedic surgeries, and we are always expanding our inventory of cutting edge equipment based on patient needs and surgeon training.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in surgeries, procedures, and appointments.
- Communicate with clients and team members (verbally and written).
- Assist in the development and implementation of surgical protocols.
- Perform anesthesia/sedation on surgical patients.
- Process lab samples and perform patient treatments/diagnostics.
- Assist with maintaining stock and ordering supplies
- Knowledge of varying sterilization techniques and autoclave operation.
- Ensure the availability and sterility of instrumentation.
- Knowledge of equipment, instrumentation, and supplies including name, location, and application.
- Effectively coordinate Surgery Service appointment schedule with anticipation of change.
- Maintain a calm demeanor and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be able to interpret and execute treatment directives given by veterinarian
- Will be required to operate and/or monitor Heska and syringe pumps, Cardell blood pressure monitors, Doppler monitors and blood gas machines
- Required to update patient records and monitor patient activity
- Participate in the training of new employees and volunteers
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 1-2 years in veterinary medicine required
- 1-2 years of surgery/anesthesia experience preferred
- Must have a New York State Veterinary Technician’s license or permit
- Must have animal handling experience
- Able to lift and restrain animals weighing up to 50 pounds
- Proficiency in surgical instrument handling and care.
- Strong understanding of anesthesia monitoring and administration
- Basic knowledge of surgical techniques and protocols
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work efficiently in a high-stress environment
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Pay Range:
$30—$40 USD. Exact pay will be dependent on the candidate’s skills, location and experience level.
