We’re seeking an energetic and adaptable Production Manager who is responsible for the planning, coordination and control of production activities to ensure the processing and packaging of roasted coffee is on time and in full. Responsible for ensuring the process runs smoothly and reliable and that quality controls are met/exceeded in accordance with Quality Standards. Aside from planning and coordinating production activities, the manager is also heavily involved in team management and optimization of resource allocation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Carries out responsibilities in accordance with the organizations’ policies, procedures, and applicable laws which include, but may not be limited to, the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Adhere to all current good manufacturing practices (cGMP) and general safety guidelines and training.
  • Collaborate and interface with cross-functional teams or departments such as Supply Chain, Quality Assurance, Maintenance, Human Resources, etc.
  • Collaborate with departmental leaders to establish and document accountabilities and goals used for performance evaluations.
  • Collaborate with Senior Management and HR to interview, hire, train, mentor, monitor, evaluate, appraise, reward, coach, guide, advise, and/or discipline departmental subordinate employees as needed and as per company policies and procedures, in a timely manner with applicable documentation.
  • Plan, assign, and direct work; monitor production to troubleshoot and/or resolve issues.
  • Create a productive department through positive written and verbal communication.
  • Participate in the implementation of new or continuous improvement of manufacturing processes.
  • Provide a positive leadership role within the production department.
  • Responsible for operations, safety, and organization of the department.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all personnel in the department are following policies, procedures and working within the safety guidelines.
  • Responsible for all shift production coordinators and their performances.
  • Communicate and/or document with all upper management and HR regarding safety, production, and future foresight.
  • Organize workflow to meet specifications and deadlines.
  • Determine the number of necessary resources (workforce, raw materials etc.).
  • Ensure output meets quality standards.
  • Enforce health and safety precautions and document accordingly.
  • Remain up to date with the latest production management best practices and concepts as well as cGMP standards and provide recommendations to the Plant Manager when applicable.
  • Back up Plant Manager as needed / as assigned.

Competencies & Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Must know and abide by Company safety policies and participate in Safety Training as required and as applicable.
  • Must be knowledgeable with GMP.
  • Must become familiar with, practice, and support Lean Production Principles.
  • Must have a current, valid, and clean US driver license and a safe driving record and must maintain throughout employment with Company.
  • Must have familiarity with industry standard production equipment and technical expertise.
  • Must be knowledgeable of safety, quality, productivity, demand creation, inventory, and stewardship processes.
  • Must have advanced computer literacy with experience and familiarity with MS Office365, Google Drive and ERP systems.
  • Must be able to manage large volumes of email regularly efficiently and effectively.
  • Must have the proven ability and experience to create accountability and lead by example.
  • Must have very strong team building, decision making and people management skills.
  • Must have the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Must have the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, vendors, and the public.
  • Must have the advanced ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical process control, fundamentals of plain and solid geometry and trigonometry, and have the ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, rations, and proportions to practical solutions.
  • Must have a recent forklift certification in good standing or must have the ability and willingness to obtain and maintain a forklift certification.
  • Must have an employment record free and clear of any serious infarctions within the past 60-months, including, but not limited to, a history free and clear of limitations which may cause/may have caused safety concerns, issues, incidents and/or accidents.
  • Must have the ability to read, write and speak fluent English.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Educational Requirements: Must have a related bachelor’s degree (BS.) or equivalent from a four-year college or technical school with a minimum of 5 years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of related experience, training, and education.
