About the Role
Assist customers in examining items during preview days and special events; call Appraisers/Specialists as required. Other duties may include assisting with merchandise pick-up following an auction, assisting various departments with auction related administrative tasks.
In your role as Preview Worker you will be required to carry out the following:
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
Preview
- Assist clients viewing auctions items inside and outside of display cases.
- Answer general non-technical questions (sale dates, times, etc.).
- Provide quality customer service.
- Call specialists as needed for technical information and/or specific inquiries on property.
- Assist in preventing theft by following security procedures.
Delivery and Pick Up
- Deliver lots to customers as indicated on collection slip; obtain signatures; file collection slips appropriately.
- Answer general questions.
- Assist in preventing theft by following security procedures.
Special Projects
- Assisting in general department administration where necessary.
- Unpack and pack boxes.
- Help set-up sales.
- Polish silver.
- Calling department lists to remind customers of upcoming previews.
In addition to the tasks and responsibilities listed, you may be required to perform other duties as assigned by your manager.
Required Skills
- Excellent communication (written and spoken) and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent customer services skills and desire to work with the public.
- Enthusiastic and calm under pressure, with a common sense approach.
- Committed, reliable and capable of working well as part of a team.
- Fluency in English necessary.
- Ability and willingness to be flexible with working hours.
- Business attire required.
- Interest in Jewelry, Fine Art, Antiques, and Collectibles.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
- Ability to accurately follow detailed instructions.
- Must be multi-functional and able to shift priorities quickly and easily.
