Nature of Work
Under the supervision of the Plant Manager, operates a Class "A" Reverse Osmosis Water Treatment Facility to control flow and processing of groundwater in order to produce and provide an uninterrupted supply of potable water to customers. Observes variations in operating conditions and interprets meter and gauge readings and test results to determine processing requirements. Complies with state and federal regulatory requirements in providing potable water to BSU customers. Work is performed under close supervision with minimal latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Exercises judgment in accordance with well-defined policies and procedures.

- Assist in monitoring, adjusting, and recording data from the computer Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) and gauges, meters, control panel and equipment to learn proper chemical treatment, pressures and flow rates of the wells and water distribution system.
- Ensure proper operation and compliance with parameters set forth by : Florida Department of Health (FDOH), Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP), South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
- Complies with all OSHA safety standards, personal protective equipment, and BSU safety regulations. Attends monthly safety meetings / training.
- Provide supervisor with accurate records and reports regarding treatment plant and equipment activity, functions, and conditions.
- Consult with and assists supervisor in completing daily technical operations and administrative tasks for a municipal water treatment facility.
- Consult with prior and subsequent shift workers to ascertain any operating problems and to provide information on facility status.
- Extract samples and perform routine laboratory tests and analyses for internal process control, detecting irregularities, or permit required sampling, i.e., pH level, chlorine residuals, and conductivity.
- Enter all shift data into the computer system, DEP-mandated logbook and / or on checklists.
- Assists with and performs inspection, cleaning and monitoring of mechanical equipment in a water plant as directed, to include RO train profile analysis, and replacement of cartridge filters, degasifier media, and RO membranes.
- Assist in performing routine troubleshooting on process equipment.
- Assist loading, unloading, and distributing plant deliveries, to include hazardous materials and chemicals.
- Assist with training as needed in proper performance of skilled technical processing tasks.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
