Job Description
The Die Shop Manager offers professional technical expertise in developing new product designs by securing and implementing the necessary tooling resources for extrusion production.
As a key member of the extrusion team, the Die Shop Facilitator will lead efforts to improve the die shop in Newnan, GA. This position involves close collaboration with cross-functional managers to support the company's overall operational goals and objectives.
Function Specific Activities :
- Oversee die maintenance and die repair operations and personnel.
- Reviews new product tooling designs for feasibility and manufacturability issues.
- Works with New Product Development and Engineering to ensure procurement of appropriate dies.
- Coordinate with production, run of samples of all new dies, as they are entered into the production process, maintain updated die information in manufacturing software.
- Train team members on safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
- Responsible for caustic and nitridation processes to be completed according to established schedules.
- Responsible for ordering new and replacement dies, which includes direct contact with various die vendors.
- Establish and maintain consistent feedback and evaluation programs for all die vendors.
- Responsible for coordinating the training of new employees.
- Responsible for keeping the Extrusion Manager informed of activities and / or problems and maintaining effective communication between shifts.
- Identifies and implements opportunities for improvement.
- Other duties as assigned.
