Job Description
The R&M Planner Scheduler is responsible for the planning and scheduling of various types of work in their assigned plant areas. The Planner Scheduler typically has no direct reports but works with maintenance and operations on Reliability and Maintenance processes. This position may have assigned direct responsibility for R&M projects with minimal risk.
Reporting to the Reliability and Maintenance Manager, you will be accountable for managing, planning, and scheduling non-emergency work orders for equipment to maximize reliability, optimize maintenance costs and reduce equipment downtime. Coordinates with the operating and maintenance personnel to determine, plan and schedule proactive maintenance including preventative, predictive, corrective maintenance and project work. Designs and procedures based on studying the operation and failures to lower costs and improve equipment reliability and energy efficiency. This position works with and supports the plant’s Equipment Reliability Processes.
What You'll Be Responsible For
Planning, scheduling, and coordinating proactive maintenance activities of equipment. Providing technical assistance and maintenance expertise to the assigned plant value streams.
Maximize the reliability of the equipment using a formal, systematic/analytical approach to planning and scheduling maintenance, and design improvements. Participate and facilitate, maintenance scheduled downtime, outages, and weekly planning meetings. The position also supports their assigned value stream area projects in maintenance activities that will improve the reliability of the equipment.
Responsible for building detailed job plans, managing work orders and backlog for planned work, and ensuring proper data management of the plant’s Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS). Work order plans will be developed with all predictive technologies in conjunction with reliability engineer and other plant operating departments.
Work within the company’s ERP and CMMS to monitor and manage performance. The planner scheduler will participate, organize, and conduct training programs for the maintenance personnel regarding new operating equipment, software, methodologies, and procedures when assigned.
Responsible for staying abreast of current technology and recommending changes to effect continual improvement of production processes. The incumbent should also possess a broad knowledge of maintenance concepts, and techniques.
Participate in major failure incident investigations in area of responsibility.
Conduct routine safety and preventative maintenance activities including inspections, audits, employee contacts and visibility tours.
Ensure that safety rules and requirements are being followed in all work areas.
Maintain compliance and visual management standards.
Assist with specification of obsolete parts replacements and procurement for items being planned and scheduled.
Will be required to manage other special projects as assigned.
What You'll Need To Have
A working knowledge of heavy manufacturing, with at least 5 years hands-on-experience in lesser positions.
A post-secondary education in administration, engineering, or a technical college diploma in electrical or mechanical discipline is recommended.
Maintenance-based experience in mechanical and electrical equipment used in aluminum extrusion and associated processes and facilities and demonstrated expertise in asset reliability technology and systems.
The incumbent must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills, be a fast learner, a self-starter, work equally well individually or in a team situation, perform and prioritize a variety of tasks with minimum supervision.
Due to close contact with operating management and personnel, outside contractors and vendors, this position requires the ability to effectively communicate with a variety of personalities and interests. The incumbent must manage the interests of all parties in creating and modifying work procedures and equipment.
Be able to follow and give high regard to safety rules and housekeeping procedures.
Knowledge of computer software, such as Microsoft Office and various ERP & CMMS software
Ability to pay close attention to detail and coordinate various activities simultaneously
Due to the nature of manufacturing operations the incumbent will be required to work on regularly scheduled shutdown and must have high availability depending on the requirement of the operation or project being managed.
Availability to travel as needed.
