Production Process Improvement Technician Overview/Objective
The position of Production Process Improvement Technician is a hands-on position located in a shop environment. Typical projects will be focused around implementing solutions to help remove waste, improve efficiency, and build quality into all production processes utilizing experience and skills. The position operates with minimal supervision but reports directly to the Manufacturing Operations Manager. The position will work to solve problems brought up by direct labor employees, supervisors, managers, and possibly customers.
Position Schedule: Monday-Friday with hours negotiable
Pay Range: $25.00-$30.00/hour
Essential Functions

- Operate material handling equipment such as overhead and jib cranes and forklifts.
- Operate MIG welding, plasma cutting, oxy-fuel cutting equipment needed in fabrication of metal.
- Correctly and safely use hand and power tools used in assembly tasks.
- Operate cutting and drilling machines needed in fabrication of metal.
- Build simple or complex parts, weldments, and/or assemblies using engineered drawings.
- Design and build simple to complex parts, weldments, and/or assemblies utilizing skills obtained through previous training or experience.
- Assist manufacturing to obtain production deadlines as requested by department manager.
- Use a PC with Microsoft products to communicate with co-workers, manage work lists, conduct research for projects, perform troubleshooting, etc.
- Design, build, and/or troubleshoot simple hydraulic circuits
- Design, build, and/or troubleshoot simple AC/DC electrical circuits

Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. This position is performed in all weather conditions. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

The employee must frequently lift or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Overtime work may be required as job duties demand.
Travel
Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out of the area and overnight travel may be expected. All travel must be approved in advance by management. Please reference the employee handbook for all applicable policies.
Required Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Five plus years of related experience in a production environment.
- Computer skills specifically Microsoft products.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Experience with 2D CAD system
- Trade School Certification
- Similar or related product knowledge
- LEAN Manufacturing training or certificate
