Job Description
SUMMARY: Responsible for supervising the Asphalt Crew to ensure that each job is completed in a timely and quality-conscious manner, utilizing the resources of labor, equipment, and materials in the most efficient and effective manner. Represent Bonness Inc. with professionalism when on the jobsite, dealing with an owner, or working with a general contractor or other subcontractors involved with the project.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Supervision and Development:
- Ensure that all personnel under your supervision comply with company policies and procedures
- Train direct reports on procedure, safety, and proper equipment operation
- Responsible for on-site material management and coordination of material delivery schedule
- Notify the Mechanic and Supervisor of any equipment problems
- Operate all company trucks and heavy equipment in a safe and responsible manne
- Inform Superintendent of any personnel issues or needs
Job Costing:
- Review the Scope of Work with the Superintendent before starting a new job
- Complete the job within estimated cost and quality expectations
- Record crew time, equipment time, and job information daily on Foreman’s Reports in accordance with the job cost requirements
- Recommend foreseen change orders to the Superintendent as early as possible
- Give sufficient notice to your Supervisor of upcoming crew absences to ensure that jobs, equipment, and personnel can be scheduled accordingly
Safety:
- Ensure that a safe work environment is maintained in accordance with company Safety Policies
- Immediately report all safety violations and accidents to Supervisor, Safety Director, and HR Manager
- Fill out Accident Investigation reports
- Responsible for daily maintenance checks on vehicles and equipment that will be used by your crew
- Responsible for the proper MOT on jobsites
Job Requirements and Qualifications
- High School Diploma, GED or the equivalent
- Three to five years’ experience in road construction and working with Asphalt
- Valid Drivers License
- Ability to learn and utilize time-tracking and job costing software Knowledge of hazards and safety precautions associated with heavy-equipment operation
- Leadership skills
- Manage employee schedules and overtime in an efficient manner
- Bilingual in English & Spanish is a plus
