What are the responsibilities and job description for the UNDERGROUND UTILITIES SERVICE FOREMAN position at Bonness Inc.?
We are seeking a full-time experienced Underground Utilities Service Foreman to lead and manage our service crew. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of underground utility installation, ensuring that work is completed safely, efficiently, on time, within budget and in compliance with industry standards and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and lead a team of workers on various underground utility projects (water, sewer, etc.)
- Coordinate daily work activities (pipe installation, pressure testing, water taps, repair projects…) ensuring all work is performed according to project timelines, budget, job site safety and quality standards
- Read and interpret blueprints, plans, and specifications
- Operate and oversee heavy equipment used in underground construction (excavators, trenchers, etc.)
- Conduct regular site inspections to ensure safety compliance
- Communicate effectively with project managers, inspectors, and team members
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to utilities installations and repairs
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and project progress
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a foreman or in a similar role in road construction, particularly with an in-depth knowledge of utility installation techniques and safety protocols.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications
- Proficient in the operation of heavy equipment used in underground utility work
- Strong leadership and communication skills, versatile, and flexible
- Valid driver's license, with a clean driving record, and ability to travel to various job sites
Preferred Qualifications:
- 3-5 years of experience in underground utility construction, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role
- OSHA certification and other safety training
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks
- Ability to stand, walk, and bend for extended periods
