General Purpose
Perform a variety of working level technical duties as needed to install, maintain, and troubleshoot standard PC and network hardware and software, and assist users in identifying and resolving computer system and software problems.
Supervision Received
Work under the general supervision of the Information Technology Manager or Lead systems Administrator.

Essential Functions
Receive, evaluate and prioritize incoming telephone, voice mail, e-mail and in-person requests for assistance from users experiencing problems with computer hardware, software, networking, and other technologies, and provide assistance in diagnosing and correcting routine problems.
Participate in the ongoing process of evaluating and determining methods for upgrading and maintaining county-wide technical operations; may make purchase of approved equipment as needed to resolve immediate problems in the county system.
Handle problem recognition, research, isolation, resolution and follow-up for routine user problems, referring more complex problems to supervisor or technical staff.
Contact software and hardware vendors to request service regarding defective products.
Install, test, troubleshoot, and maintain computer systems' hardware and software including client and network application and operating system software in a network environment.
Assist in the installation of network infra-structure equipment including cabling plants, communications backbone equipment, and telecommunications hardware; implement backup and recovery procedures; maintain service logs; assist off-site locations to maintain communications services.
Assist in monitoring and troubleshooting of LAN and WAN system performance and resolving communications, connectivity and networking problems; monitor problem/change activities and coordinate involvement of technical and client staff and vendors to ensure effective implementation of new or enhanced systems and resolution of user problems.
Provide first level "Help Desk" services to county employee computer users, maintain queue and answer general computer questions; maintain on-line or manual trouble logs and resolves client requests; provide training to users on hardware and software applications. May prepare information and reports regarding Help Desk service activities; perform LAN administration functions; make recommendations to users for future hardware or software additions or enhancements.
Ability to maintain regular, reliable patterns in work product and attendance according to Bonneville County's expectations.

Minimum Qualifications
1. Educations and Experience:
An associate degree in Computer Information Technology or two years of post high school education or training in computer science or a related field ;
AND
Two (2) years of progressively responsible experience performing above or related duties;
OR
An equivalent combination of education and experience.
2. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Working knowledge of computer systems hardware and common operating systems and business application software; TCP/IP protocols and windows help procedures; local and wide area network servers and systems; diagnostic methods and software for identifying and resolving hardware and software problems; electronic information and communications systems including the internet and e-mail and various specialized information systems.
Ability to receive and prioritize requests for assistance and work effectively with users in an interactive setting to identify and resolve computer information systems and software problems in a network environment; to interpret and apply complex written and verbal instructions; to apply problem solving methods and diagnostic procedures; to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with users, IT technicians, and vendors; to install and maintain computer hardware, software, and peripherals in the network and/or multi-platform environment; and to respond to routine questions and provide training regarding use of common operating systems and application software, internet applications, e-mail systems, and related technology.
3. Special Qualifications:
- May be required to receive specialized training and/or become certified in IT related areas.

4.Work Environment:
Work is performed in a typical office-based setting with appropriate climate controls. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock. The employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. Tasks require variety of physical activities, not generally involving muscular exertion, such as walking, standing, kneeling, stooping, sitting, reaching. The vision requirements include close vision, ability to distinguish between colors and ability to adjust focus. Mental application utilizes memory for details, emotional stability, critical thinking and guided and creative problem solving. The ideal candidate must be able to complete all physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.
Work requires the ability to lift/carry objects weighting up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
