Job Title : Medical Assistant
Pay : $22.70 / Hr. to $29.69 / Hr., depending on experience
Hours : Monday to Friday, 8 : 00 AM to 4 : 30 PM (or the option to work four 10-hour days per week)
Start Date : ASAP
We are seeking a Medical Assistant for a full-time position for our client, a specialized cardiology practice located in Portland, ME . The Medical Assistant will be an integral part of a team specializing in the management of patients with advanced heart failure requiring heart pumps or heart transplants. This role offers a great opportunity to work closely with a team of cardiologists, advanced practice providers, RNs, and other medical staff, providing high-quality care to medically complex patients.
As a Medical Assistant , you will be responsible for :
Abstract lab values into the electronic medical record.
Manage clinic supplies.
Obtain prior authorizations for medications and procedures.
Provide patient care and administrative support in a team-based environment.
Promote smooth patient flow through the office.
Function under the license of the physician / advanced practice provider when performing clinical and other patient care responsibilities.
The ideal candidate for this role will have :
Education : High School diploma or GED required; completion of an accredited vocational program, community college, or a healthcare vocational program is preferred.
Experience : Relevant experience as a Medical Assistant is preferred.
Certifications : Current BLS certification required or must obtain within 30 days of start date. Certification from AAMA, NHA, AMT, or NCCT is preferred or must be obtained within 1 year of eligibility.
Skills : Strong organizational skills, ability to multitask, and proficiency in basic clinical procedures.
Personal Characteristics : Motivated, organized, with a passion for learning specialized cardiac care.
Physical Abilities : Ability to perform tasks such as standing for long periods and assisting with patient care.
