What You’ll Do:
The Sanitation Technician is responsible for executing and overseeing all sanitation processes in a high-volume beverage manufacturing facility, ensuring compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and food safety regulations. This role requires physical endurance and hands-on cleaning tasks, including manually scrubbing equipment, working with high-pressure hoses, and handling cleaning chemicals. The technician will coordinate with Production, Quality, and Maintenance teams to ensure sanitation schedules are met and that the facility operates at the highest hygiene standards.
Sanitation & Cleaning Execution:
- Perform manual and automated cleaning of tanks, conveyors, fillers, packaging lines, floors, and facility surfaces.
- Utilize Clean-In-Place (CIP) and Clean-Out-Of-Place (COP) systems for equipment sanitation where applicable.
- Conduct thorough cleaning of high-risk zones to prevent cross-contamination between alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverage production.
- Use high-pressure washers, foamers, and scrubbing tools to remove residue and maintain hygienic conditions.
- Properly dilute, handle, and apply sanitizing chemicals in accordance with GMP and OSHA safety standards.
GMP Compliance & Documentation:
- Maintain accurate sanitation logs, cleaning records, and chemical concentration validations.
- Ensure compliance with FDA, HACCP, and GMP regulations, and proactively report any non-compliance issues.
- Follow and enforce allergen control protocols to prevent cross-contamination.
- Support internal and external audits by ensuring sanitation records are up to date.
Cross-Department Coordination:
- Communicate with Production, Quality Assurance, and Maintenance teams to schedule and execute sanitation tasks without disrupting workflow.
- Assist in conducting pre-operational inspections to verify equipment and surfaces meet cleanliness standards before production resumes.
- Coordinate with maintenance on equipment disassembly and deep cleaning to ensure optimal hygiene levels.
Inventory & Supplies Management:
- Track and maintain inventory of cleaning chemicals, PPE, and sanitation equipment.
- Ensure proper storage and labeling of sanitizing agents to prevent misuse or contamination.
- Notify management of low stock levels or supply issues to avoid disruptions in sanitation procedures.
Continuous Improvement & Safety:
- Identify areas for sanitation process improvements and recommend efficiency-enhancing solutions.
- Adhere to and enforce OSHA safety guidelines, ensuring proper use of PPE (gloves, masks, protective eyewear, boots, etc.) during sanitation procedures.
- Participate in safety and sanitation training programs to stay updated on industry best practices.
Requirements
What You'll Need:
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 1 year of experience in sanitation, food/beverage manufacturing, or GMP environment preferred.
- Experience with industrial cleaning procedures, chemicals, and sanitation equipment in a beverage or food production setting is highly desirable.
- Skills & Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of GMP, HACCP, and FDA food safety regulations.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, labor-intensive environment with frequent lifting, bending, and standing.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills to coordinate sanitation activities across departments.
- Basic computer proficiency for logging sanitation records and reporting issues (Microsoft Office, Google Suite, or similar software).
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. frequently.
- Comfortable working in hot, cold, humid, and wet conditions.
- Ability to climb ladders, crouch, and stand for extended periods.
- Exposure to high-pressure hoses, chemicals, and mechanical equipment.
This position will pay between $22.75 and $28.75 per hour
