Job Type
Full time; reports to Customer Service manager
Job Summary
Chief role is to set manufacturing plans to produce books that meet customer expectations. The Job Planner understands machine capabilities and interacts with not only Customer Service but also Estimating, Prepress and Production when necessary to prepare plans for books with special requirements.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Entering new estimates to print MIS (Pace) or reviewing existing estimates for accuracy
- Checking inventory in-house or with outside supplier to confirm material availability
- Working knowledge of press specifications and bindery processes
- Adding quality or production notes and clarifications to work orders
- Confirming that jobs meet machine specifications
- Preparing cover layouts for outside vendors and customers
- Reviewing master job schedule daily for job priority
- Updating CSR training manuals
- Other duties as assigned by department manager
Qualifications
- Previous experience/education in graphic arts or book production
- Proficient user of Microsoft Office programs, particularly Excel
- Able to read a ruler and convert units of measure
- Detail-oriented
- Highly organized
- Good communicator
- Capable of working both independently and as an effective team member
- Ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment
