Job Title: Community Manager
Job Summary:
Primarily responsible for anyone entering the building, Ensuring only participants have access to services. Provide support, direction and guidance to new program participants.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Meet and greet all visitors and participants in a courteous and professional manner.
- Direct all visitors and participants to appropriate personnel or departments.
- Answer incoming telephone calls, screen calls to determine purpose of callers, and forward calls to appropriate personnel or department.
- Take and deliver phone call messages when appropriate personnel are unavailable.
- Monitor SSP participant flow into the building.
- Collect and document ID numbers on appropriate forms used from all participants when entering HRC.
- Monitor first floor bathroom, laundry and shower services.
- Ensure all participants ID numbers are collected on the appropriate form when accessing these services.
- Ensure there is an adequate supply of men’s and women’s undergarments, socks, tee shirts, etc., and shower towels.
- Monitor the syringe kiosk in front of the building and in all bathrooms throughout the facility.
- Ensure all collected syringe litter in these areas are boxed appropriately for medical waste disposal and collection.
- Monitor reception area, bathrooms, laundry services and visitor’s access.
- Monitor outside of the perimeter of the building for loitering and cleanliness.
- Receive incoming mail and deliveries and contact appropriate parties.
- Monitor and conduct 2 daily syringe litter clean-up around the block of BOOM!Health’s Harm Reduction Center.
- Establish relationships with outside service providers and neighbors.
- Attend and represent the HRC programs at the 40th Precincts Monthly Community Council Meeting.
- Establish working relationships with local detox sites
Qualifications/Criteria:
- Working knowledge of harm reduction theory and practice.
- Experience with providing harm reduction services to active drug users, the homeless and sex workers.
- Ensure adherence to legal and company policies and procedures and undertake disciplinary actions if the need arises.
- Working knowledge of MS Office, MS Outlook, ADP.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to advocacy and activism, for drug users, individuals with HIV/AIDS, participants experiencing homelessness and drug policy.
- Represent the agency at meetings.
- Attend all required trainings.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Bilingual (English and Spanish) strongly preferred.
Education:
- GED or High School Diploma.
